… or why the Annies are a joke.
Here’s the list of this year’s Annie Award winners.
I love how unashamedly Dreamworks is listed as a “Gold Sponsor” right next to the studio’s clean sweep of the ceremony. Guess Katzenberg stuffed those ballots with cold, hard cash huh?
Christ-on-a-stick, no wonder nobody takes this industry seriously. Even the Academy isn’t that brazen of the fact they can be bought off.

Seems like with the Annies, they don’t so much vote for the nominees, but take in a certain amount of cash from their “sponsors” to get an award.
Which along with his sequel fetish, also underlines Katenberg’s motive for making animated films.
Well, that explains a lot. I can’t comprehend any other circumstances under which Kung-Fu Panda would be considered better than Wall-E.
Kung Fu Panda is more entertaining than Wall-E, thats why it won, and it deserved it. Kung Fu Panda is the pinnacle of animation.
Jonathan….. pardon me?!
I’m proud for Kung-Fu Panda because at least, it’s much entertaining than Wall-E. I seen it in a local small theater before they closed definately.
Fuck awards. They are just run by the industry. Also OT but I saw a commerical for UP last night and it dosen’t look bad however I am yet to be convinced it could possibly justify a feature film running time. Still, it’s nice change from the damn “talking spoon” films Pixar has done.
Also Justice League: The New Frontier should have won. All those DTV Futurama movies suck and don’t even come close to anything that they did during the shows original run. They are borderline on par with Family Guy.
I didn’t see Kung Fu Panda, and even if I hated WALL-E (which I don’t) it honestly doesn’t make a lick of sense that KFP won every single award it was nominated for and WALL-E (one of the best reviewed and highest-grossing movies of last year) won absolutely nothing. Even if KFP deserved a few awards it still baffles me that it won every single one.
I call bullshit on all of that.
Sorry for the triple posting but this is just disgusting. It’s like John Gotti Jr. being awarded a key to the city and then we see him hand Micheal Bloomberg a huge bag of money.
I could understand Kung Fu Panda winning the Best Animated Feature award, but not Dreamworks’ monopoly on every non-TV category of consequence.
What a crock.
Nothing on that list is even worth talking about. It’s all junk. End of story.
Mike: Kung Fu Panda dosen’t even deserve a Razzie.
Pretty much every award that wasn’t won by Dreamworks was won by Nickelodeon, the other gold partner.
Look at all of the awards the “Furious Five” short won and tell me Dreamworks did nothing to influence the outcome.
Fuck Dreamworks!
There, I said it.
Not everything on the list was junk, Mike Matei, Waltz With Bashir was pretty good, though it didn’t win anything. Also, I like El Tigre.
Even Lou Romano thought Panda was better than your precious Wall-E, blog commenters. Thad’s review of Wall-E explained why it was a crappy movie.
